There are many children who are deprived of the love of their natural parents and a healthy environment for their growth and development. Traditionally, the destitute, abandoned and orphaned children have been looked after in various Child Care Institutions. Now, there is an increasing response to Adoption.

The Ministry of Welfare, Government of India, has supported Voluntary Agencies involved in promoting in-country adoption. A Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) has been set up to help, promote and regular adoption.

Ms. Nilima Mehta’s book addresses major issues. Several annexures included in the book will prove useful to potential adoptive parents and social workers by acquainting them with procedures, legal aspects and steps involved in the adoption of children.
